The Shambhala Prophecy

From the Kalachakra Tantra as told by Dru gu Choegyal Rinpoche  to Joanna Macy

Coming to us across twelve centuries, the Shambhala prophecy comes from ancient Tibetan Buddhism. The prophecy foretells of a time when all life on Earth is in danger. Great barbarian powers have arisen. Although these powers spend much of their wealth in preparations to annihilate each other, they have much in common: weapons of unfathomable destructive power, and technologies that lay waste our world. In this era, when the future of sentient life hangs by the frailest of threads, the kingdom of Shambhala emerges.
You cannot go there, for it is not a place; it is not a geopolitical entity. It exists in the hearts and minds of the Shambhala warriors. That is the term the prophecy used – “warriors.” You cannot recognize the Shambhala warrior when you see him or her, for they wear no uniforms or insignia, and they carry no specific banners. They have no barricades on which to climb or threaten the enemy, or behind which they can hide to rest or regroup. They do not even have any home turf. Always they must move on the terrain of the barbarians themselves.

Now the time comes when great courage — moral and physical courage — is required of the Shambhala warriors, for they must go into the very heart of the barbarian power, into the pits and pockets and citadels where the weapons are kept, to dismantle them. To dismantle weapons, in every sense of the word, they must go into the corridors of power where decisions are made.

The Shambhala warriors have the courage to do this because they know that these weapons are “manomaya.” They are mind made. Made by the human mind, they can be unmade by the human mind. The Shambhala warriors know that the dangers threatening life on Earth are not visited on us by any extraterrestrial power, satanic deities, or pre-ordained evil fate. They arise from our own decisions, our own lifestyles, and our own relationships.

So in this time, the Shambhala warriors go into training in the use of two weapons. The weapons are compassion and insight. Both are necessary, the prophecy for foretells. The Shambhalla warriors must have compassion because it gives the juice, the power, the passion to move. It means not to be afraid of the pain of the world. Then you can open to it, step forward, act. But that weapon by itself is not enough. It can burn you out, so you need the other — you need insight into the radical interdependence of all phenomena. With that wisdom you know that it is not a battle between “good guys” and “bad guys,” because the line between good and evil runs through the landscape of every human heart. With insight into our profound inter-relatedness, you know that actions undertaken with pure intent have repercussions throughout the web of life, beyond what you can measure or discern. By itself, that insight may appear too cool, conceptual, to sustain you and keep you moving, so you need the heat of compassion. Together these two can sustain us as agents of wholesome change. They are gifts for us to claim now in the healing of our world.
Many in the Tibetan lineage believe that this is the time of this ancient prophecy. If so, perhaps we are among the Shambala warriors.

The Begining Of The Begining

Saw all of us with arms stretched up, we were all waiting.

——-

Something needs to happen here, something is waiting to be born,
noticing this was so powerful this ‘new’ so powerfully unimaginable unknown.

———

Experience of the space that we held together was of great tenderness and trust
and of light coming down and through this container right into the core of the earth.

———

Very grateful and touched by this journey as a great raven came and took me with him.
At first we were alone then more birds came.
We flew over a part of the world that was covered by a dark cloud.
The birds let drops of light fall from their beaks down to the earth,
but I saw that it was not enough light and that more help is needed.

———

Experience of Divine energy going down into the earth,
special feeling of light going through all creation,
how it is all One. One light, Divine light and creation all one.
Shown that the birds have a special task to carry this energy of light
from place to place where it is needed.

———

Experience of us as ‘one cell’ and of light,
a circle of light in the group. In the circle there was dynamic movement.
The light went to the places where it was most needed and this took sometime

———

In the last part of the meditation, the circle was in us,
and I saw a fire long ago of people sharing food together and communicating without talking
and there was singing and the fragrance of wood-smoke and the space so full of light
with Angels present and our Ancestors.  Light and God everywhere!

——-

There was a tender energy that I have never felt before
even the wings of a butterfly or a spider’s web are coarse and rough in comparison.
It was so, so fine.
Experienced many things within creation, the cosmos, the birth canal, black holes,
volcanoes and always this subtle fine energy present.
Felt like the beginning of the beginning, that it does not quite exist yet,
felt such joy and happiness.

Changing The Story: Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee and David Korten

‘In recent years there has been an important discussion about the need to “Change the Story.” The story that defines so much of our collective life and behavior is at present one of materialism and economic growth, a story that is not only unsustainable, but fundamentally destructive to our planet and its ecosystem. People around the world are now working to help birth the transformation to a new story, one that confirms the interrelated and interdependent nature of all life on Earth. A recent article (in Yes Magazine) by David Korten, Religion, Science, and Spirit: A Sacred Story for Our Time,  is a very clear articulation of the need to participate in this newly emerging story.

And yet in all of this discussion I have found that an important element is not present. Real stories that can change our collective existence are born from the inner, symbolic world. Unless this new story emerges from the depths, in the inner world, it will be just another idea in an already crowded marketplace, lacking any real power. Thus there is a need to include this inner dimension if we are to transition into a new story for humanity’. Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

Symbol For The New Civilization

The Journey:new civilization symbol

In an instant I passed over all the civilizations we had created.
Was taken back to where the ancient ancestors were.
I came to a small circle of elders who were seated,
some leaning elbow to the earth.
One of them was stretched into the centre of the circle
and was drawing equations on the ground.
This was part of intense discussions that were taking place.
All the elders were very actively and deeply engaged
in the discussions, which were very esoteric,
mathematical, alchemical.
I felt I was with great masters.
I stood for a while watching from outside of the circle.
Then they took me into the circle to be with them.
I saw they could see into the past and future.
The ancestor who had been drawing the equations now held a long white rod in his hand,
he swept it over the ground like a windscreen wiper. As the rod swept across the ground,
pictures of the past were seen. As he drew the rod back across the ground, pictures of the future were seen.
I was then standing outside the circle with one of the elders,
which I could only see the back of. He was slender, tall, dressed in a slim full length light tan robe with a hood that was worn over his head. The image was that of a monk. He took my left hand in his right hand. I became a young person of maybe 12 years old. I saw the image of myself as being ‘little brother’, the name the Kogi call us.
A very long straight narrow white road stretched out before us. I saw the back of us while we walked hand in hand in silence. Now present on the road, we walked past previous civilizations, which could be seen on both sides of the road. I saw they were made of cardboard. The image was of empty cardboard boxes of various sizes, some upside down, some on their side. The whole landscape was dusty brown, had the feeling of empty wastelands. It was clear that I was to pass by, to give what I saw no energy. We walked till we came to where our civilization is now. The elder and maybe 10 of us who live in this time sat together in a circle outdoors on flat grassy green ground. The elder stretched himself across the ground and began to draw the symbol of the new civilisation on the grass. First he drew a large circle, which became a white translucent disc. He then drew the centre, which was circular and open through which the energy from the depths of the earth was drawn up in cylindrical fashion, to flow through the open centre in two channels both flowing in opposite directions across the disc. Both channels of energy were the width of the central opening. They flowed across the surface to the discs edge into the grassed earth. It was as if the elder had drawn the symbol with light.

I Saw The Future Flowing From A Well Spring

swiming inside the fishI saw the future flowing from a well springswimiming the great river
Nurturing earth and everything therein.
Songs singing of circles.
Endless motion, birth.
Life knowing the way of wind water soil fire.
Earth’s song. –
Melody of stars in children’s eyes.
Men weeping war and re-born.
Women of love and giving.
Children singing.
Light days.
Praise work pleasure.
Kindness strong words devotion.
Heal and mend.
Send this to the waters depths
Mountains high
Rivers flowing.
Fast track through passage ways
Of days sacredly sent.
Earths song.
New born day.

Something Unknown Known

So subtle so fine, something unknown known.life awakened
Comes with an invitation to Enter
A breath of remembrance, caressing the cheek
Flowing out over the face of the water,
Over the deeps and into the valleys of the unseen.
So many beings crowding round within the stillness,
Silent amongst those remembering God
A shaft of sunlight; which the plants transform into The very substance that fleshes out existence,
Whilst we human beings can be the vehicle by which A finer light weaves into creation,
Threading through the pathways, the sunken lanes And forgotten reaches of those unremembered places
Where all creatures seen and unseen gather, longing, waiting, singing.
The way in, a door as ephemeral as the flight of the little bird,
That tiny wren that popped in this morning as  emissary, our guide to the byways,
The green paths and places where only free nature, free spirit wings.
The path less travelled, those byways, highways of a visceral knowing.
The ancient body wisdom that runs between each cell in creation
Like a fine scent, a subtle perfume infusing the mist, that obscures a vision now clearing,
As life stirs, sighing awake.

Thin Black Thread

This thin black thread, moving through all those hollowed out holy places.
Those vast small spaces between each moment.
Its width the span of a single breath, a life, a universe.
A Will O’ the Wisp to a grasping mind that flashes out to grab The whole of it.
Illusive as water slipping through outstretched fingers,
The spaces between soil and rocks and galaxies.

This thin black  thread, black its colour, contour and form,
Mirroring the void, containing All.
Black obsidian mystery of the heart string that is tuned to Another cosmos.
One fine note tuned to perfection, perfectly pitched to catch the ear of the passing Stranger.

God imminent winking before you.

From The Cave Behind My heart

From the cave behind my heart

tears of blood

I reach out
Holding in my hand
The golden thread of daring
Spider silk strong
I pass it on
From hand to hand we pass it on
And standing in fragility
For all to see
Together weave
A cradle
Rocking gently
That world we know
Intimately
As yet unborn
